Living outside of America allows me to get creative and upcycle since I can’t just head over to Hobby Lobby or Michaels for supplies! A few years back I snagged these 5 x 5 inch shadowboxes on clearance at Joann Fabrics. Some of them were scratched up and had designs that I wasn’t fond of. Fast forward to the last few years when we lived with what we could fit in two or three suitcases! For years I have carried around scrapbook paper pads and these shadowboxes knowing that one day they would come in useful! They are perfect as coasters or mini seasonal signs. Just change out the scrapbook paper to match your home decor and add your favorite phrase! The best part is the stencil film protects the design from drink condensation.
Here is my latest upcycling project using this design. I hope you are inspired to use some of that scrapbook paper you have lying around and create a coaster or a seasonal frame for your home decor.
For so long I have been wanting a tiered tray. Finally one summer I found one on clearance. The best thing is that it flat-packed! How cute this is, and so simple!
Here’s the list of supplies…
- Cutting machine/design software. I use Cricut Design Space and my Cricut Joy-love that it fits in my suitcase wherever I go!
- Mini Shadowbox.
- Scrapbook paper.
- Stencil film/acetate.
- Permanent vinyl/transfer tape.
- Measuring tape.
- Paper cutter.
- Weeding tool/scraper for transferring vinyl.
- Digital file of your choice.
I hope you have fun getting creative! Why not like my Facebook page and share a picture of what you create using this design or head on over to my Etsy Shop and leave a photo review!
Thanks for journeying with me,
Lou
